Maybe you’ve made the decision recently to leverage the internet and learn to generate your network marketing leads online. Not a bad strategy, hey I do it myself. But if you have chosen this route I feel it’s only fair that I be truthful with you and let you know what lies on the road ahead. Seems as if there are too many folks out there in the MLM world (honestly, I find them in every industry) that think the path to internet fame and fortune is nothing more than some consistent blogging. While the blogging is a critical piece, generating network marketing leads online is going to take more work than a basic blog. Here’s a few things you need to figure out before you start:
Search Engine Rules
Can you honestly say that you know what Google and the other search engines are looking for and how you achieve high rankings? Online MLM lead generation is extremely competitive right now and if you pay attention, you’ll notice that rankings can change multiple times in one day. You better start your marketing efforts by learning what to do and what NOT to do in order to keep the search engines happy. I’ve done a few trainings on this and it would make sense for you to watch them.
Keyword Research
Here’s something that you better get really good at. Researching keywords, assessing the competition, and figuring out what you’re aiming at before you start shooting. I’ve watched too many people get started without a plan and without knowing how to research keywords and even though they may write some decent content, no one ever gets to read it because it never gets ranked.
Time vs Money
This is a big one. People are always asking me how long it will take them to get traffic to their blog. Well, that depends on how you “fish” for that traffic. If you don’t have a significant budget to do PPC, Adwords, Facebook ads, or other forms of paid advertising, then you are left to do the free stuff. The free stuff works (that’s all I did to get started) but you better plan on having plenty of time to write content, submit it to dozens of sites, build backlinks, post in forums and on other blogs, and a myriad of other activities needed to capture the attention of your desired audience. There’s a lot to learn and if you don’t have the time to learn it, you’ll need to have the money to buy the traffic. If you don’t have time or money, then the internet may not be a viable vehicle for you.
Team
Guys, I preach this one all the time and too many people want to do the ostrich
thing and stick their heads in the sand and ignore my advice. But, I speak from experience so I’ll continue to preach. I’ve had a fair amount of success online, but a HUGE part of that success is due to fact that I am teamed up with others who are experts in online marketing. When I run into the occasional snag, there are resources at my disposal that I can leverage for advice and help. Understand that generating network marketing leads online is perhaps one of the most challenging things you’ve ever done so if you are out there trying to build online and you don’t have an upline team doing the same thing, you could be fighting a losing battle. I’ve never seen anyone do this on their own but who knows, maybe you’ll be the first. If so, be sure to let me know!! My advice is this- if you are serious about your current company, then build it the way your upline leaders have built it. Follow their lead and do what they did to earn their paychecks. That’s how this business works- via duplication. If you’re attempting to build online and your upline is not, you are NOT duplicating and sooner or later your house of cards will fall. That being said, if you are serious about building your business online, you need to be involved with a team who is actively doing the same thing.
Don’t Starve While You Learn
Learning to generate leads online for your network marketing business is going to take some time, in some cases months before you have all the pieces in place working for you. So what are you going to do in the meantime? Most people that I know won’t continue to do something for months and months with no financial reward. However, if you’re dead set on ONLY building online and you are just getting started, that’s what you could be up against- a ton of work that doesn’t pay you for a long time. Now, a year from now it might all be worth it, but will you make it through the year?
Let me ask you this… If you were building a traditional business, knowing the hundreds of different ways that you could potentially market that business, would you chose to ONLY market it online? I highly doubt it. So why would you want to build your network marketing business that way? If you really want to have that true residual income you’ve been dreaming about, look to build you network marketing business both online and offline. To me, nothing else really makes sense.
